Sara was my 'Crazy Red Dog'. Everything thing she did she did with pizzazz! She spent her first four years as an acreage dog with no real job and then I discovered agility and decided it was the game for us. She was a wonderful and forgiving starter dog and let me try just about anything I thought might be fun. She was a sweetheart that was always ready for a cuddle and filled my minimum hug quota every day. In Sara's first year of agility she competed in three agility trials, a NADAC trial, and AAC trial and then a CKC trial. The CKC agility trial was the first CKC agility trial in Western Canada and she earned her AGN title. She was the second Irish Setter to ever obtain a CKC agility title only because Eastern Canada had already had four trials before Western Canada had their first. She continued her agility success with her AGI title in CKC as well as titles in NADAC and AAC. Her only set back to agility success was her green handler. Thankfully she was forgiving and continued to let me play with her. Although she wasn't fast, Sara's true love was flyball! She played agility for me and I played flyball for her. She was a quick learner and was practicing with the team dogs after three drop-ins. She was always ready to run and would try to wiggle out of her harness with such enthusiasm that you would have expected her to tear off the line but she didn't. She plodded her way down the flyball lane with great enthusiasm, but she was never a speedy girl and she always had a smile on her face and a wagging tail. Sara was my heart dog and I will always miss her. Her tail never stopped wagging no matter where she was or what we were doing. At the age of eight she lost her leg to bone cancer and two days after her amputation she was dragging me back into the vet's office because she couldn't wait to get there. She was an extremely special girl that filled my life with the joy she put into every day of her life. I will miss you forever my 'Sara-belle'. |
